Seasons of Sil is a small second-hand clothing business, run by one person and sold live on Instagram. This page explains what we keep about you, why we have it, and how to get rid of it. It is written plainly on purpose.
What we keep
Only what it takes to sell you something and get it to you:
- Your Instagram handle
- Your name
- Your email address or phone number, if you gave us one
- Your delivery address
- What you bought, what it cost, and what you have paid
- Short notes about your orders — a size that fits, something you sent back
- Your sizes, the kinds of things you like to shop for, and brands you love — only if you choose to add them on your own page
- Pieces you mark as favorites while browsing what is for sale
We never see your card or bank details. Payments go through PayPal, who handle them entirely. Nothing about how you paid is stored here beyond the fact that you did.
Where it comes from
From you — a comment on a live sale, a message, or a form you filled in. We do not buy lists, and we do not collect anything about you from anywhere else.
What we use it for
- Sending you what you bought
- Working out what you owe, and letting you pay it
- Talking to you about your order
- Keeping proper records of sales, as any business must
- Looking out for things you have told us you want — your sizes, your favorites, your wishlist — when we are buying stock and deciding what to show
That is the whole list. We do not use it to advertise to you. The only picture we have of what you like is the one you choose to give us on your own page, and you can change it or clear it there at any time — we do not build one from what you buy.
Who else handles it
Running a shop means other companies touch some of this. Each one only gets the part it needs:
- Supabase stores the records themselves — everything above — on servers in the United States.
- Vercel runs the website, so requests pass through them.
- Resend sends order emails, so they handle the address a message goes to and what it says.
- PayPal takes the payment. Card and bank details go to them directly and are never seen by us or stored here.
- The postal service receives a name and address in order to deliver a parcel, which is the only way a parcel arrives.
- Instagram is where the sales happen. Comments and messages there are held by Meta under their own policy, not this one.
We do not sell your details, rent them, or hand them to anyone for advertising. There is no arrangement of that kind and there never has been.
Emails
The only emails we send are about an order you placed — what you owe, and how to pay it — or about your own page: a link to it if you were a buyer before logins existed, a message to confirm your email when you make a login, and a reset link if you forget your password. There is no mailing list and no newsletter. If that ever changes, those messages will be something you choose to receive, and every one of them will have a way to stop them.
Your links, and your login
We send two kinds of link, and neither asks for a password — you do not have to make an account to see what you bought. A link works like a key, so it is worth knowing which is which:
- An order link shows one order and what is owed on it.
- Your own page shows everything you have bought from us, anything being held for you, your balance, your favorites and your sizes, and your own delivery details — all of which you can change there.
If you would rather have a password, you can make a login from your own page or at the sign-up screen. That gives you the same page from any phone, plus the shop, your favorites and your sizes. A login is an email address and a password, kept by Supabase like the rest of your details. We email that address once to confirm it is yours, and a forgotten password is reset by a link we email to it — never to an address typed in on the spot.
Anyone you forward a link to sees what that link opens — and on your own page that includes your address, because that is the page you change it on. Neither link shows anything about anybody else. If one goes astray, tell us and we will replace it; the old one stops working immediately.
Cookies
There are no advertising trackers and no analytics following you around. The only cookies this site uses are the ones that keep you signed in if you make a login, and the one that keeps staff signed in to the private side of it. Pages you reach by a link set none at all.
How long we keep it
Records of sales are kept for as long as a business is required to keep its books — a few years. Your contact details and address we keep until you ask us to remove them. There is no automatic clear-out, so asking is how it happens.
What you can ask for
Any of this, at no cost, without giving a reason, whoever you are and wherever you live:
- A copy of what we hold about you
- Anything wrong put right
- Your details deleted
- Us to stop contacting you
Your name, address, email, phone, sizes, wishlist and favorites you can change yourself, any time, on your own page — the link we sent you. You do not have to ask us for those.
On deletion, one honest caveat: a receipt for a sale is a financial record and we may have to keep the sale itself. What we can do — and normally do — is strip your name, address and contact details out of it, so what is left is a transaction with nobody attached to it.
Ask however is easiest for you. We will get it done as quickly as we can, and within a month at the outside.
Keeping it safe
Your details sit in a locked database that only signed-in staff can reach — and that is a very short list of people. The most sensitive things are restricted further still. No system is perfect, and we will not pretend otherwise: if something goes wrong and your information is affected, we will tell you rather than hope you do not notice.
Children
This shop is not meant for children, and we do not knowingly keep details about anyone under 16. If you think we have, tell us and we will remove them.
Changes to this page
If what we do with your information changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves. It is worth a look now and then.
